The Alias Manager helps you protect your identity online. Email addresses are used more and more as identifiers (this is where links are sent to reset a password for example) so they are precious and should be protected. Whenever you need to leave an email address but do not necessarily want to share your personal one (when you subscribe to a newsletter for example), you should use the Alias Manager. It will generate an alias email address for you. This alternate email is a unique email address that belongs to you and is associated to the website you are on. All communications sent to this alias are forwarded to your usual inbox and you stay anonymous, even when replying. The Alias Manager then helps you identify spammers and their enablers by tracing back aliases to the website where they were created. You are now in control of your inbox: you can block emails for a specific alias or even delete an alias altogether.
