The Data Manager is accessible from the navbar. The Data Manager is symbolized by a stack of papers.

Warning
The Data Manager displays all the data collected by the Pocket Geek Privacy browser extension if you have installed it on your desktop browser (Chrome or Firefox) and have allowed it to store a copy of the data you leave behind when browsing the internet, as well as data you’ve entered manually.
To see the details of the data associated to a company or website:
-
Tap on the company name/website
You can manually add as many pieces of personal data as you wish: passport numbers, bank account information, social security number… The Data Manager is also a vault and you can protect any and all pieces of data by encrypting them.
To do this:
-
Tap on the big gray button (bottom right) → it opens a new screen
-
Enter the relevant information in the fields (Company name or Name of Personal Data, Type of Data, Data value)
-
Tap on the “Save” button
Tip
Quick actions are also available directly from the Home screen of your device. It is now possible to add an account in the Password Manager or a piece of data in the Data Manager and to generate an alias email address from there too. The shortcut takes you directly to the appropriate “creation screen” in the app.
To use this shortcut, find the Pocket Geek Privacy icon on your home screen and apply a “long press” to make the drop-down menu with the list of quick actions appear. You must be logged in to access this feature.
Unless you decide to encrypt it, the data collected and stored in the Data Manager is kept "in the clear" (not encrypted) by default (unlike the Password Manager which encrypts your passwords by default). Not all the collected data is worthy of encryption but some certainly are (bank information, IDs, etc.). We highly recommend that you encrypt any sensitive data, whether it was collected by a website or added manually to the Data Manager.
To do this:
-
Tap on the company name/website to display all associated data
-
Tap on the menu (
) above the data you wish to encrypt -
Tap on “Encrypt data”
You can also encrypt all the data from a single session at a time:
-
Tap on the company name/website to display all associated data
-
Tap on the menu (
) on the right of the session information -
Tap on “Encrypt session data”
Warning
Encrypting collected data will only encrypt the copy of the data stored in your Data Manager, NOT the data collected and stored by the website you were visiting.
To decrypt your data:
-
Tap on the company name/website to display all associated data
-
Tap on the menu (
above the data or on the right of the session information -
Tap on “Decrypt (session) data”
-
When prompted, enter your Master Password or use your fingerprint
Caution
Your Master Password is a sequence of characters that you create and that you — and only you — know. It’s used to decrypt the sensitive data stored in your Managers. You are its only guardian, we truly have no access to it (and therefore can’t misuse it or put it at risk), so make sure to keep it safe and not lose it. The good news is this is the only password you now need to remember!
You can adapt your preferences regarding the Master Password from the security section of your Settings. Learn more
Tip
To use your fingerprint, you need to attach your Master Password to it. It is as safe as entering the Master Password. To set up the fingerprint, go to the app Settings and under Setup, tap on the toggle for the fingerprint to enable it. If the fingerprint is already set up on your device, a pop-up will appear asking you to enter your Master Password and will link it to the fingerprint.
Not easy to remember all the data you’ve left online, but the Data Manager can help you! We built-in a powerful search engine to help you easily find where you left a specific piece of data (addresses, date of birth, credit cards, booking trips or hotels, searches…) or simply a piece of data you added manually for safekeeping.
Tip
It is possible to encrypt any or all of the pieces of data saved in the Data Manager but, if you do so, the search feature will not be able to re-index the encrypted data, and it will no longer be searchable. If you want to search all of the data stored, make sure to temporarily decrypt (show) it all first.
