Pocket Geek Privacy allows you to securely store your data with strong cryptography and provides a user-friendly retrieval process, but this is YOUR data and you may want it in your hands, either as a printout or in digital format. Maybe you are curious about the amount of data that you are leaving online and want a broader picture!
When you export your data (from My Account), you are provided with a file that includes all the data Pocket Geek Privacy has collected on your behalf as you were browsing the internet and filling forms. It also includes the data you entered manually, your account credentials, and the list of aliases you generated.
In this document, the data is stored “in the clear” (not encrypted) and is displayed by “companies” (which is a generic term that includes websites and labels you created yourself when you entered data manually).
Be very careful with this document! It contains precious personal data about you, and you are now solely responsible for keeping it safe. Here are some of the practices you can adopt:
-
Lock the file using a strong password
-
Use “cold storage”: keep the digital file only on a USB drive which you then store in a locked drawer or another safe place (and make sure to erase the digital file from your device)
-
Keep only a printout in a safe place (and, again, make sure to erase the digital file from your device)
For any additional information about your data export (or anything else you want to know about how we treat your data and our strict Privacy Policy, don’t hesitate to contact our Data Protection Officer at ThePrivacyOffice@assurant.com.
